Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Undergraduate Student Merit Scholarship


 

By completing this application, you will be considered for the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Undergraduate Student Merit Scholarship subject to meeting the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Australian or New Zealand citizen, or the holder of an Australian permanent resident visa or permanent humanitarian visa; and
  • Enrolled in a UTS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences undergraduate degree in the session the Scholarship is awarded; and
  • At the time of Scholarship selection the applicant must have completed minimum of 48 credit points (or equivalent) in their current UTS undergraduate degree; and
  • Have applied through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) for an Equity Scholarship and therein demonstrate financial disadvantage; and
  • All candidates must apply using the UTS online Scholarship application form.

Previous recipients awarded the full value ($5,000) of this scholarship, will not be eligible to apply for this scholarship in subsequent offerings. Previous recipients who didn't receive the full value may reapply but cannot receive any more than the maximum scholarship value ($5,000) across any two or more scholarship rounds.

Before Starting Your Application

  1. Complete your UAC Equity Scholarship application, and have your ES application number at hand.
  2. Prepare your written statements (maximum of 300 words each) in a text document, do not use any special formatting in your statements (i.e. no bullet points, numbering etc.):

    • What influenced your decision to undertake your chosen UTS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences undergraduate degree and what is your motivation to succeed in your studies?
    • Please describe an achievement (personal or professional) which has given you the greatest sense of satisfaction and why?
    • What circumstances are impacting your ability to support yourself financially and how would this scholarship assist you to complete your degree?
