Garth Barnett Scholarship - Application


 


By completing this application, you will be considered for the Garth Barnett Scholarship, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

  • Be commencing their second year of a Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture (single or combined) as listed below at UTS in the Autumn session of the Scholarship selection:

    • C10271 Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture; OR

    • C10322 Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation; OR

    • C10272 Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture Bachelor of International Studies; OR

    • C09144 Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture Bachelor of International Studies (Honours)



  • Have a minimum weighted average mark (WAM) of 60 or above.

  • Completed a minimum of 36 credit points in one of the eligible degrees above.

  • All candidates must apply using the UTS Scholarships Application form to be eligible.

  • All candidates must be available to attend an interview (Zoom or Face to Face).


In addition, preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated financial disadvantage and/or other education barriers. Applicants who intend to provide evidence of the preferential criteria will need to apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) for an Equity Scholarship, or get an independent financial assessment through the Financial Assistance Service that confirms they meet the preferential criteria.

Before Starting Your Application


As part of your application you will be asked to provide written statements to the questions listed below. You may like to prepare your statements prior to starting your application.


Please keep your responses to a maximum of 300 words each and avoid using special formatting (e.g. bullet points, numbering, etc.).

  2. What motivates you to succeed in your studies and in a career in interior architecture?

  3. Please describe your understanding and interest in the legacy and works of Garth Barnett.

  4. Have you experienced any challenges or obstacles in pursuing your studies or your career in interior design / interior architecture? How have you used innovative thinking or problem-solving skills to address the challenge?

  5. Tell us about a time you have used your initiative to advance your professional and personal life.

  6. Please describe your background/current situation. How would receiving the Garth Barnett Scholarship assist you in your studies?


Closing Date


Applications close at 11:59pm on Monday 28 April 2025.
Successful recipients will be invited to the Garth Barnett Cocktail event at a time and date TBC.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
